    • Changed the names in some example narratives. This is to partially address an issue that was pointed out to me where all of the example narratives had only been about white people. Obviously this is not an adequate solution but I got the feedback very late and addressing the issue in a better way would take a more time than I have left. If I return to make a version 1.1 or 2.0 I'll definitely make this issue top priority.
    • Added an example written by Dr. Derald Wing Sue to What Are Microaggressions to add more perspectives in examples. This is to address the same issue as the change to Goals, Goals, Goals.

    • Oops, "jquery" was consistently mispelled in the Technical Components article. Fixed that.
    • Revised Technical Components so that it was more clear the difference between the design and the coding aspects.

Version 0.9.3 BETA 3/19/2016:

  • Site has been rehosted at Evan Silberman (F07)'s Spooky Camp server, rather than Hampshire's Stout server. This is so the site can stay online and maintainable after I graduate. The stout page is now being used for bugtesting from various devices.
  • New URL!! sailingroughwaters.com !!

  • Made citations at bottom of articles more consistently formatted.
  • Fixed bug where footer links didn't appear on Valerie's page.
  • Added metadata for search engines and social media links.
  • Finally figured out a way to make tooltips and popovers DRY via Liquid Includes. This is definitely way too late but it's a back-end change that makes a huge difference. Implemented this.

  • Updated microaggressions sub-index in light of last update's split of Types of Microaggressions into 3 articles.
  • Improved Website Accessibility
    • Fixed redundant aria-describedby elements on tooltips
    • Added proper aria-labels to tooltips and popovers
    • Added glyphs to tooltips and popovers to make them more distinguishable without color-coding
    • Removed explicit textual references to the color-coding of popovers, tooltips, and links, so that the experience makes sense regardless of how you are identifying them.
    • Increased color contrast of the close button on popovers
    • Began process of replacing ">>" in front of the "more info" links inside popovers with just a "More Info." using periods instead of fancy stylistic punctuation that was read weirdly by screen readers.
  • Added links to microaggression subtype articles to link to other articles about microaggression subtypes.

Version 0.5.5b:

This update was just used for testing a fix for the iPhone-tooltip bug.

Version 0.5.5 1/25/2016:

  • New Articles:
    • Types of Microaggressions (/define/microaggression/types)
    • Types of Microaggressions is split into 3 articles for each subtype.
      • Navigation on site updated to reflect this.
    • Controlling The Frame (/cope/confront/frame)
  • Each page now has a unique title which appears in the browser tab.
  • The version is now displayed in the bottom right corner, so that visitors from the public understand the project is still in development if they stumble on it.
  • Hopefully fixed a bug where iOS users could not dismiss the tooltips because iOS doesn't think you "should" tap the background to dismiss, and therefore does not tell the browser that it was tapped at all.
    • Workaround for this has lead to a new bug where on desktop, the mouse displays as though it could click on something and it's kinda confusing. I'm going to work on this in the next update.
  • "Meta" section has been renamed the "About" section
    • "About the Project" (/meta/about) is now "Conceptualization of The Project" (/about/concept) to avoid confusion
  • Fixed some typos in various articles that I noticed when updating navigation
  • Slight revision to "What Are Microaggressions" to remove line about the subtypes of microaggressions in the example story.
  • Revisions to What is Validation and Talking About Talking articles according to Jane's feedback.

Version 0.5 1/16/2016:

  • Total redesign of site navigation.
    • Navbar is a darker color for better distinction from the rest of the website and improved visual accessibility
    • Dropdown menus have been replaced by links to separate pages with new accordion menus for their specific section. This is both a less overwhelming UX, easier to navigate, and more in line with ARIA-WAI accessibility standards.
    • A sitemap link has been added to the bottom of every page.
    • Breadcrumbs have links to "between pages" which fill in gaps in navigation. So that some users may follow a more natural path of, say, Define>What Are Microaggressions>Microaggressions>Types of Microaggressions. Rather than jumping back to the full Define page.
    • Popovers have been re-purposed for when a concept comes up that is elaborated upon in another article. Popovers then serve as a "window" or "preview" into the other article, and serve to offer users different articles they might decide to read next.
    • Tooltips have been give proper aria-describeby labels so screen-readers recognize them as distinct from regular hyperlinks (what since color-coding is sight-based. this is issue is still a work in progress)
  • New Sitemap Page
    • This page is a map of all pages on the website.
  • All original articles have been split up into multiple articles
    • This includes revisions to all articles.
  • Revised intro page
  • Revised and edited all existing articles.

Version 0.4 12/1/2015:

  • Made it so all links open in new tabs or windows in compatible browsers per Daniel's feedback (this took significantly more research, finagling, and coding than it sounds like it would)
  • Revised intro page per Daniel's feedback
  • Minor back-end updates to make pages load slightly faster (this was super minor, I realized I had the pages loading a file that didn't do anything, basically)
  • Added alphabetical jump-links to glossary (this also is a lot more of a coding endeavor than it sounds like)
  • Added a couple definitions to glossary
  • Finally finished revising the glossary per Jane's feedback

Version 0.3.1 11/17/2015:

  • Pages now have "breadcrumbs" telling you where in the site you are.
  • There is now a brief article at ~jci12/meta/me where I describe my background, who I am, and what perspectives I bring to the table.
  • There is now half-ish of an article at ~jci12/cope/valid describing what Validation is and how you can use it as a coping strategy.
  • I built a robot that generates validating sentences. It's available at ~jci12/cope/valid/robot .
  • I put separators under the Cope menu to separate "cope with" and "cope through". I haven't figured out how to communicate the difference yet.
  • I haven't read all of Jane's edits on the glossary yet but I addressed like, maybe 40% of them in this version of the glossary.

Version 0.3 10/27/2015:

  • New popover feature, for terms which have their own articles in addition to appearing in the glossary. This allows both mobile and desktop users to bring up the brief definition and click through to the full article, or close the popover and return to their reading.
    • Click an X to close the popover! (this was actually kinda challenging to implement so I'm proud of this)
  • Updated tool-tip system which fixes some bugs such as mobile users being scrolled to the top of the page when they open a tool-tip.
  • A Name! Sailing Rough Waters
  • Color-coding! Popovers are purple, tool-tips are green, and regular links are blue.
  • Footnote Citations!
    • Coming soon possibly, footnote citations which display the APA citation when clicked. (AN: dear g-d I am not going to implement this what was I thinking that is a waste of time.)
  • A super big glossary covering every color-coded term and more!
  • Revised "What Are Microaggressions" article reflecting Jane's notes and including footnote citations.
  • Two brand new Define/ articles!
    • "Marginality & You: Learning to Hate Ourselves", explaining how marginalization is internalized by marginalized groups and creates low self-esteem.
    • "Privilege In Our Lives", actually explaining intersectionality, mostly, haha. As well as Dr. Sue's concepts of OCBs vs UUOs.
  • Revised front page text to reflect other changes.
  • Fixed bug where links to articles from other articles lead to 404 error
  • Modified gradients on menus to make text more readable to visually impaired and color-blind readers
  • Renamed menus to "Cope" and "Define" rather than "Tactics" and "Theory"
  • Other bug fixes and tweaks

Version 0.1 9/22/2015:

  • Added filler welcome page
  • Added article on microaggressions
  • Website is now hosted on Hampshire's Stout server.
  • Used old code from another project as skeleton
    • Made colors scheme blue
    • Blanked pages
    • Changed menu titles
